The Winos Best Front Range Winery: Settembre Cellars (editors choice)

Wine geeks love exclusivity, which is part of the draw to Settembre Cellars. It’s a tiny operation in Boulder that produce the best wines along the Front Range. The dry Riesling is the standout. That is until you’ve tried one of Settembre Cellars Syrahs. The Cabs and Chardonnays are no slouch, either.

Winemaker Blake Eliasson hand sorts every grape. The focus on his half-dozen wines that produce about 500 cases a year is remarkable. The story behind the winery is sooo Boulder. Bicycle deliver is free around downtown, and Eliasson not only sources all of his grapes from Colorado, he even grows a few vines in his backyard to produce a two-case batch of 80304.

It all adds up to a winery that can compete with anyone in Colorado, and one that we’d put up against plenty of producers outside the Rockies to prove good wine in Colorado is not only possible, but should be standard.
