A Colorado Wine Week primer
It’s Colorado Wine Week. Yeah, from Sunday to Saturday you should do nothing but drink the local vino. And attend these events.
Sunday:
The official kickoff to Colorado Wine Week starts at Salt in Boulder. Beverage director Evan Faber has put together one of the most extensive Colorado wine lists in the state making this a perfect launching point. This social media-inspired event features a $10, three-wine tasting from 3–5 p.m. There will be several other happy hour-inspired specials.
Wednesday:
The official kickoff to Colorado WineFest is at a restaurant that only serves Colorado wine, Spuntino. This new Highland hotspot serves as an auxiliary tasting room for the Bonacquisti Wine Co., and winemaker Paul Bonacquisti will be bringing in some other Colorado wines to sample. For just $6 (or $5 if you check in on Facebook), attendees will get to taste three Colorado wines. As with the Boulder tasting on Sunday, there will be happy hour specials, too.
Thursday:
Colorado wine gets served at some fancy digs during the Celebration of Premier Colorado Wines at the Governors Residence, which is part of Colorado WineFest. Commissioner of Agriculture John Salazar will present the awards from the Colorado-only wine competition judged by national and local wine experts. It’s a benefit for the Governor’s Residence Preservation Fund. $65
Friday:
As Colorado WineFest kicks into full gear at Northfield at Stapleton, Top Chef Hosea Rosenberg stars in an event that features several culinary talents putting on a VIP dinner paired to select Colorado wines. This is where you get the good food and wine. $115
Saturday:
Grand tasting. Check. Riedel seminar. Check. VIP experience. Check. Saturday is the day where everyone along the Front Range gets the chance to see the state’s premier wine festival hit Denver for the first time. $35+
